I had to write before October ended!

Hello! It has been a while since I've written. Helping a child with homework in grade 5 is a whole new ball game for me - now I know what the rest of you have been doing all these years! Anyways, it was my goal to write again before the end of October, so here I am..... on the last day of October, as my girls get ready excitedly for trick-or-treating. It used to be that I had to go visit the neighbours prior to Halloween night to bring them treats for Taylor that she could safely eat. Even though that was years ago, I still feel relief each Halloween that we are able to go out with her like any other family. Now the concern is my girls eating treats and lowering their immunity, making them more at risk for H1N1! Last year, my girls enjoyed a visit from the Candy Fairy who took away their candy after they had eaten their favourites and replaced the candy with a gift of their choice. That backfired. Paige told friends at school about the Candy Fairy and they told her that there was no such thing. She then asked me if the Tooth Fairy was made up too. When asked any question directly, I cannot lie. I told her there was no Tooth Fairy. Next she said "Next you're going to tell me that there is no Santa." I thought I was in the clear with that one as she hadn't asked me directly. But no....Taylor was in the room and had been keeping that secret for 3 years so she told Paige there was no Santa. If you liked the Candy Fairy idea, before I told my whole story, make sure you tell you tell your children that the fairy does not visit all homes!
